Scrum Engage – Taking the Gap
Front Row, Assssssemble! …its Scrum Time. This short and snappy video is a quick ‘how to guide’ on scrum engagement. It shows the basic technique for the improving player. THIS IS NOT FOR BEGGINERS.
The primary issue the video communicates is the importance of ‘taking the gap’, the gap’ being the distance between you and the opposing front row. Speaking very, Very, generally; if you ‘take the gap’ before your opponent, you’ll get a successful hit, and with a success full hit you get a dominate scrum. This can be practised, as the video shows, individually or as a front thee. Obviously in full team training, this should be practised with all 8 packing down to get the timing spot on.
